Step 3 : Let's change the header row styles to Bold and Italic. To do that first select the header row. Then click Bold icon and Italic icon respectively. Alternatively you can make the content Bold & Italic by pressing Ctrl + B and Ctrl + I respectively.

Step 4 : Change the cell colour of top row to a light colour. To do that select the cells if not selected. Then click the Fill colour icon. Select a suitable colour and it will applied.

Step 5 : Apply a thin cell border for the table. To do that select the cells which contains data. Click the format button and there you can select format cells.... In the format cells window click the Border tab. Select the last style in the style column 1. Then click the outside & inside respectively in the preset section. Alternatively you can apply multiple styles to each side. In a separate post, we'll talk more about borders. Click OK to apply borders.

Step 6: Change the sheet name from "Sheet 1" to "Employee". To change the sheet name right click on the sheet name (Sheet 1) and select rename. Type "Employee" and press enter. Alternatively you can double click on the sheet name and rename it.

Step 7: Save the Excel workbook as "Practical 1". Click the File menu and select Save as and enter a file name and Click.

That's all for this simple exercise. Hope you have learnt something. Feel free to experiment Fill colour options, Cell border options. After all everything you do beyond the scope of practical will help you to gain more knowledge in these things.

Cheers!
